Pastor Kayla's BlogCampus Pastor, Gladstone
It’s Springtime: changing weather, new critters emerging, a time of rain (especially the last couple of weeks)… all the signs of a new season. With that, potentially comes a long list of‘THINGS TO DO: Spring cleaning, yard work, sorting, growing grass, rearranging, cleaning out…and on and on.
Just like we do in our own homes, an inventory was made at our church home of things to do and poof a list of 23 things was written on the board, from putting mulch on the playground, picking up trash, organizing closets, painting in the lobby…etc…thus the reason for the work day last Saturday.
As the day proceeded, one by one items were crossed off of what originally looked like a very long and daunting task list. What an amazing day of TEAMWORK. People were working alongside one another, talking, laughing and ACCOMPLISHING so much! Included in the people involved were about 20 Scouts who came and joined in the fun and tackled a majority of the outdoor projects. Not only did the boys work hard, they also had fun! What a joy it was to have the boys’ energy pour into this church. Even a person passing by was drawn to come in and enjoy some delicious baked goods and coffee and inquired about our church. This verse in Ephesians seems to sum it up:
“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
I am so honored to be in ministry WITH YOU as we continue to invite others this healthy church that is growing and full of love!
P.S. Check out this video from the workday Saturday!
Even though July 31st Sunday was our official launch date, last Sunday was another great “first” to have under our belt. We launched gskids where 36 kids were engaged in a fun learning environment and it was our first week to have the worship team leading worship and it was such an amazing Sunday! The worship series that we are doing at Good Shepherd was specifically designed with the launch at Gladstone in mind, this idea of rebuilding and bringing new life to the Gladstone community. I am so excited to be in ministry with all of you to continue to build the ministry of the Gladstone campus with you! It would bring me great joy to have a conversation with you about your passions, your gifts and how you see yourself being a part of the rebuilding of this church. We could meet over coffee/tea/soda, whatever your preference 🙂 and it truly would be my honor! Simply email me and we can set up a time to meet, firstname.lastname@example.org
This week we will continue the story of Nehemiah. I hope to see you this Sunday as we uncover what comes next in Nehemiah’s call to rebuild and what that means for us as well!
I am overwhelmed with joy and thanksgiving to our amazing God this day! Since January, when I began as the pastor at Good Shepherd Gladstone, we have expectantly been awaiting the launch of the campus! Now that has come to fruition, I give praise to GOD for each and every person who was a part! After worship was over and we were beginning to take things down, there was a little boy crying. When I asked what was the matter, he said Vacation Bible School is over. What a bittersweet moment.
Psalm 147: 1-5
Praise the Lord!
How good to sing praises to our God!
How delightful and how fitting!
The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing the exiles back to Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
He counts the start and calls them all by name.
How great is our Lord! His power is absolute!
His understanding is beyond comprehension!
I am so humbled and grateful for all that God has, is, and will do through this church here in Gladstone. There has been a lot of work and intentionality about getting to this point, but friends, this is just the beginning! My prayer for us all is to continue to grow deeper in our faith and to CONTINUE TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ with our friends, family and neighbors. Let’s continue to momentum and continue to invite others to come along the journey with us!
