We keep strange things: a wedding ring, a ticket stub, a photo from the first day of school. Not because the object matters, but because we forget. Not the facts, just how it felt and why we said yes in the first place.
That’s what Sunday’s baptism was for.
Before Jesus taught anyone to be baptized, he stepped into the water himself. “You are my Son, whom I dearly love,” God said over him – before the miracles, before the cross, before Jesus had done anything to earn it. That’s the whole point of baptism: it starts with God’s yes to us, not our yes to God.
This Sunday, some people said yes for the first time. Others came back to remember a yes they’d already made. Either way, the question for the rest of us watching was the same: what do you need to remember?
If you were there, or even if you weren’t, you can relive those moments at the link below. Find your photos, download them, and hang onto them, the same way we hang onto the ring or the ticket stub or the picture by the front door.
And if watching stirred something in you, a maybe I want this too, we’d love to talk with you about what that could look like. Stop by the connection table on a Sunday or reach out at the link below. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to know who you want to follow.
