There’s something in the air this time of year. You can feel it in the longer days, the warmer breeze, and the signs of new life all around us. Spring is a built-in reminder that renewal is possible—and that natural energy mirrors the hope we celebrate at Easter.
And Easter at Good Shepherd…it’s something special. The buzz is already building. Our team is preparing, volunteers are stepping up, decorations are going up—it’s electric.
But none of it is just for show. All this anticipation and energy is rooted in the truth at the heart of Easter: we follow a God who makes the impossible possible. Easter is the story of resurrection—where death didn’t get the final word. And because of that, we believe new life is still possible. Whatever you’re facing, Easter reminds us that in Christ, the unmovable can move and the unchangeable can change.
Even more, Easter isn’t just about what God is doing in us—it’s about what God wants to do through us. It’s a powerful opportunity to live out our vision of being a Christian movement at the heart of our community, igniting hope and meaningful change for new generations. But to do that, we need you.
Here are three meaningful ways you can be part of making this Easter the best yet:
Invite
As you make your plans for Easter, think about who you can invite to join you. It could be a friend, a neighbor, a coworker—someone who might just be waiting for a reason to say yes. A simple invite (even a social media share) can open the door to a fresh experience of faith. But a personal invitation? That can change a life.
Serve
Easter happens because people like you step up to serve. If you’re looking for a way to make a real difference, this is it. One of our greatest needs is during our Kids Easter Party, where we need extra hands to help create a safe, joyful, and faith-filled experience for our youngest guests. You’ll be part of the energy- welcoming families, helping kids feel at home, and supporting the fun alongside our team leaders. It’s a simple way to serve with a big impact. You can sign up here.
Give
This year, 100% of our Easter offering will go to support families in crisis right here in our community. Through our partnership with the North Kansas City School District, your giving will help provide emergency housing and remove financial barriers that keep families from finding stability. This is what igniting hope looks like—real help, right now, for those who need it most. To learn more or give, visit our website.

Finally, if you’re looking for some practical tips to make Easter at Good Shepherd a little easier (parking, service times, what to expect), we’ve created a list of Easter hacks for both campuses—check them out below.
I can’t wait to celebrate with you this Sunday. (And hey—if you think about it, say a little prayer for sunshine!)
Peace,
Matt
P.S. If you are looking for a way to make Easter more meaningful, tomorrow we are having a service at our Gladstone campus at 7pm to celebrate Good Friday. If you are unfamiliar with Good Friday, it is when we remember Jesus’ last moments leading up to and on the cross. It will be a powerful service that will add depth and meaning to Easter. I hope you’ll join me!
