Easter Is Coming — Don’t Miss This

Lately I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to drift. Not in some dramatic, life-falling-apart kind of way. But in quieter ways.

Whether it’s moving my body, my eating habits, connecting with friends—or even things that bring me life—it’s easy to just get busy. Life fills up. Weeks turn into months. And before you know it…you’ve drifted.

And sometimes that drift shows up in deeper places too. You feel a little disconnected. From people. From church. Maybe even from God.

Or maybe it’s not disconnection—it’s just that life has been heavy lately. Something didn’t go the way you hoped. A relationship feels strained. You’ve been carrying more than you expected.

And without even realizing it…you’ve drifted from the things that once grounded you. The things that gave you life. The things that reminded you who you are.

That’s part of why Easter matters so much. Because Easter is a moment that pulls us back. Back to what’s true. Back to what matters.  Back to the reminder that God hasn’t drifted from us—even if we’ve drifted from God.

Easter is a reminder that new life is still possible. That hope still breaks through. That no matter how far we feel, we’re never beyond being found again.

At Good Shepherd, we’re heading into Easter with that kind of expectation. Not just to join together—but to reconnect. To experience something meaningful. Something that brings us back to life in ways we didn’t even realize we needed.

And just like every year, Easter is also an opportunity—not just to receive something, but to be part of what God is doing.

Want to make Easter more meaningful?
Here are three simple ways to make Easter meaningful this year:

Invite
Think about who you could invite to join you. Easter is one of the few times people are already open—it often just takes someone asking. If you aren’t following us on social media already, follow this LINK and share something from Facebook or click HERE to share on Instagram. Or consider offering a simple, personal invitation. When we take the risk and invite someone, that effort can go a long way.

Good Friday
Good Friday creates space to slow down and reflect on the weight of the story. When you take time to sit in that moment, it doesn’t make Easter heavier—it makes it more meaningful. Because you don’t just celebrate resurrection…you feel the depth of it. Our Good Friday service is at our Gladstone campus this Friday at 7pm. Nursery is available.

Give
This year, our Easter offering is about something simple and powerful: giving a child a bed of their own.

Through our partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, every $250 provides a complete bed for a child right here in Clay or Platte County—frame, mattress, bedding, everything.

Our goal is to raise $12,500 to build and deliver 50 beds during our all-church serve day coming up in August. This is more than furniture. It’s rest. Safety. A place to dream.

Dedicating one of our largest offerings of the year to make a difference right here in our community…this is what it looks like to be a church that ignites hope and meaningful change.

You can give or learn more about the offering and Easter at Good Shepherd HERE.

Finally, here are a few “Easter Hacks” to make your Easter morning a little smoother:

  • Parking (both campuses): If you’re able, consider parking a little farther away to leave closer spots for guests and those who need them most. Who knows, you might even find an extra treat on your windshield waiting for you after service!
    • North Oak: Overflow parking is available in the medical lot just south of the church.
    • Gladstone: Additional parking is available in the lot to the north (near the Mediterranean restaurant), with a sidewalk connecting directly to our building.
  • gsKids: Pre-register your kids to make check-in quick and easy—name tags will be ready when you arrive. You can preregister HERE
  • Online: If you are unable to join us for in-person worship, we will have a compelling online experience with worship music, a chance to give to the offering and the complete message. It will be available on our website, Facebook and YouTube beginning at 9AM Easter morning. Just follow this LINK
  • More questions? Check out our Easter Experience video or read through all the common FAQs on our website HERE.

Easter is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s so much fun and life giving in every way. If you’re already planning to join us for Easter, I can’t wait to celebrate with you.

And if you’ve been feeling a little disconnected—or just in need of a reminder that something more is possible—Easter is a great time to show up again. No pressure. Just a chance to experience something that might be more meaningful than you expected.

Because if Easter is true…then hope still breaks through.

I hope to see you this weekend.

Peace,
Matt
