Director of gsKids

Part-time, Paid staff
Location: Gladstone Campus

Principle Function and Primary Responsibilities

The principal function of this role is to provide weekly programming to teach children about God’s word and love to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
In addition, this position directs energizing and compelling events that help children and families grow spiritually in community with others.

  • Provide weekly programming for children from infants through 4th graders, and Club 5/6
    • Select, implement and evaluate all curriculum and materials in coordination with other gsKid’s directors
    • Follow-up with first-time guests and lapsing attenders
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor weekly gsKid’s volunteers and nursery staff
    • Recruit, train, schedule and appreciate gsKid’s event volunteers
    • Ensure check in process for safety and to track attendance for follow up 
  • Manage gsKid’s ministry plan (budget), annual calendar, and supplies
  • Maintain and promote Safe Gathering policies and procedures 
  • Collect and report data for all gsKid’s events
  • Direct and empower leaders to implement an annual Vacation Bible School and manage the budget (expenses and sponsorship/fundraising)
  • Promote gsKid’s opportunities internally and externally to reach new kids in the community
  • Build relationships with children and their families through regular communication 
  • Work in coordination with other campuses to share resources (curriculum, VBS supplies, etc.)
  • Nurture kids to learn about generosity
  • Coordinate gsKids events that meet the rubric of being energizing and compelling to include promotion externally and internally
  • Provide pastoral care to families as needed
  • Work in coordination with Little Lambs Preschool regarding shared space and combined activities.

Qualifications
  • A follower of Christ who is growing in faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and ministries of Good Shepherd
  • Regular attender in worship and participating in a small group
  • Able to live out the staff guiding values of generosity, growth, resourcefulness, optimism, and integrity
  • Key skills – recruitment, mentorship of others, organization, communication, enthusiasm, conflict management, and a deep love for Jesus and children

  • Reports to Campus Pastor - Gladstone
