What ages do you accept?
We accept newborn through 5 years of age (aka K-prep).
Is your program year round?
Yes, we follow North Kansas City School District (other than the start date) and offer summer camp in the summer. We are closed one week in May, one week in the summer and one week in August for building maintenance and the preparation of the new school year.
What are your student/teacher ratios?
For infants to 1 year of age, 1:4 ratio. For 1 year of age, 1:5 ratio. For 2 years of age, 1:6 ratio. For 3 & 4 years of age, 1:8 ratio.
When does enrollment begin?
Open Enrollment for current families starts February 1st and for the general public begins March 1st.
My child has a peanut allergy; can you accomodate that?
Absolutely. We are a peanut & tree nut-free facility.
What security features does your buliding have?
All doors are locked at all times. Families are given an individual access code to enter the building. In addition, all students need to be signed in and out each day at their classroom. Identification is checked on all people authorized to pick up until we get to know you.
What is the educational background of the staff?
All teachers in our 3-year-old and K Prep classes have a degree in either early childhood education or elementary education. All staff have a background working with children.
Do staff have any additional training?
All staff are CPR certified and have had Safe Sanctuary training. In addition, most staff have attended active shooter training with the KCPD.
What is your discipline policy?
Our philosophy is positive redirection. We assist the children in making positive decisions. Our staff strives towards fostering responsibility, caring and creativity in the children we teach.
Are there opportunities for active play to develop gross & fine motor skills?
Yes, we have two separate fenced-in playgrounds that give children the opportunity for physical activity to enhance their gross motor skills, promoting health and well-being. Classrooms utilize table time to provide students with exposure to fine motor activities. This may include cutting, pre-writing activities & lacing activities.
Will my child nap during the day?
Children ages infant – 3 year olds have a nap or rest time. Nap times vary by age from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Nap schedules in our infant room are flexible.
